This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello, Doctor,

I have anxiety, depression, stress, and frequent overthinking. I am also dealing with weight gain, along with vitamin D deficiency and vitamin B12 deficiency. My main concern is the vitamin D deficiency and the symptoms related to it. Please advise me

  1. What medicines and supplements can be useful?

  2. Which treatment approach will be helpful?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I am sorry you are going through this. Anxiety, stress, depression, overthinking, low energy, and weight changes can all become worse when vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels are low, and many people feel physically and emotionally exhausted in this situation.

The good thing is that these deficiencies are treatable, and symptoms often improve gradually with proper supplementation, sleep, nutrition, sunlight exposure, and stress management.

For vitamin D deficiency, a commonly used treatment is cholecalciferol or ergocalciferol, such as 50,000 IU (international unit) once weekly for 6 to 8 weeks, followed by a maintenance dose of around 1000 to 2000 IU daily. However, the exact dose depends on your blood level and your doctor’s advice.

For vitamin B12 deficiency, many people take methylcobalamin or cyanocobalamin tablets around 1000 mcg daily, while some people with severe deficiency may need injections.

Eating foods rich in protein, eggs, dairy, fish, and green vegetables, along with spending some safe time in sunlight, can also help support recovery. Try to reduce caffeine, maintain regular sleep hours, and include daily walking or light exercise, because these can improve both mood and anxiety symptoms.

I hope this information helps you.

Feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you.
