Common "Wet Cough" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Wet Cough

A wet cough is when one coughs up a tiny amount of phlegm or sputum every time they cough. One may also call it a productive cough. With viral or bacterial infections of the respiratory system, one may produce an excess of mucus. This stays in the airways and comes out with every cough. Depending on the level of inflammation, the phlegm from a wet cough may be clear, yellow, or greenish yellow in color.
