Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have three white patches under my tongue. They are in a row right below the side of my tongue, moderate ulcer under one of them and it looks like dead skin, while the other two are not painful. The veins along the sides of my mouth are also white and swollen.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is called the linea alba. These lines most commonly run along with the occlusal plane. Kindly mention if you ever had or currently has any habit or family history of oral or systematic illness or disease. Linea alba is asymptomatic and harmless in itself and resolves on its own. However, if it is persistent for three weeks, the possibility of malignancy should be ruled out by the dentist.

The white patch may represent many common lesions of the oral cavity. The most common (and unscrapable) is leukoplakia. Go for Vitamin A chewable tablets and regression must be noticed by the doctor. Ulcers of the oral cavity respond best to Triamcinolone gel applied about four times a day for 4 to 5 days. Regular follow-ups are essential in such cases, to be in regular touch with your doctor.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
