Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with whiteheads around my nose, and despite trying Salicylic acid and maintaining a daily nose-washing routine, there has not been any improvement. I am curious to understand why the whiteheads are not going away. What should I do?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We feel glad that you reached out to us.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

Whiteheads, also known as closed comedones, or a mild form of acne. These occur due to the secretion of oil or sebum under the skin, which becomes trapped in pores and closes, potentially leading to the accumulation of bacteria and the development of small or large acne. Whiteheads can be treated through manual comedone extraction, facial treatments like Medi facials, and chemical peel procedures. Medications or creams may not yield significant results for whiteheads, as they usually require removal through procedures.

To address this concern, I suggest the following:

  1. Hydrafacial and manual comedone extraction: Opt for this method to eliminate existing whiteheads effectively.

  2. Tablet Limcee 500 (vitamin C) chewable tablet: Take one tablet after breakfast and one after dinner for two months to prevent secondary infections. Consult your doctor and take the medication accordingly.

  3. Ahaglow advanced gel face wash: Apply one pump of Ahaglow advanced gel face (purified water, acrylate copolymer, sodium laureth sulfate, aloe vera, polysorbate 80, sodium cocoyl, apple amino acdis, decyl glucoside, coloured millicapsules, glycoclic acid, phenoxyethanol, fragrance, vitamin E, acetate and potassium) on a wet face, gently massaging in circular motions for one minute, and rinse. Use twice daily.

  4. Steam therapy: Perform steam therapy at home once a week. Gently expose your face to steam for about five minutes to open pores and release trapped oil.

Consult your doctor and take the medicines. Additionally, avoid triggering factors such as consuming oily and fried foods, sweets, red meat, and whole milk to prevent the formation of whiteheads. It is important to note that whiteheads may reoccur due to various factors like genetics, diet, hormones, stress, and environmental changes. While there may not be a permanent cure, the suggested treatments can effectively manage and reduce their appearance.

I hope this helps.
