Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female.

Is it possible that my wisdom teeth become infected?

What are the chances something could go wrong in removing them?

I know I need to remove my wisdom teeth. My primary dentist told me that a few months ago. I have not gotten them removed yet, mainly because I am terrified of it. They have become much more painful (they all hurt, but one is more painful than the others). It hurts to eat often, and it is also painful to open my jaw. I also get a lot of earaches on the side where the pain is the worst. I get a lot of headaches too. However, I am not sure if the two are related. What are the chances of them being infected now? And what are the chances that something could go wrong while removing them?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Well, every tooth gets infected. There is a very rare chance that something wrong happens during the removal of a tooth. It is ok if you have not removed your tooth, but you need to visit a dentist and get an X-ray done for the tooth to see its position and direction. It is not an infection all the time to remove a tooth. Sometimes, we remove the erupting tooth due to its position and direction to save damage to other teeth. At least check the position and direction. We can only say it is infected once and if we examine it in the X-ray. And if you have to remove this, then do not wait. Get it done. This will relax your mind and soul.

I wish you good health and happiness.

Keep me updated with the improvements.

Thank you.
