What causes burning pain in penis with yellow colored urine?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have burning pain in my penis and yellow colored urine which smells like fish or ammonia. Whenever I eat hot food or hot drinks the burning increases. I would feel better after drinking water.

Please give me medicine for the above problem.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You can have acute urinary tract infection. For that, you can investigate with urine routine microscopic examination. If pus cells and bacteria present then urine culture can be done for further work up. It is advisable to drink lots of water and fruit juices. Avoid the intake of excess spicy foods. You can revert back with urine routine microscopic report once done.

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor, thank you so much for the reply.

I have attached the reports of the urine examination. I am also having a skin infection in the testes for the last three months. It has spread to the thigh side also.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Your urine report is normal and you may need not to worry about that. You should take lots of water and fruit juices. For a few days avoid excess spicy foods intake. You can be prescribed a five-day antibiotic course empirically. You can take a cranberry juice extract tablet for seven days.

If symptoms continue after seven days then investigate further with USG (ultrasound) pelvis scan and urine culture.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

For burning micturition, I have already mentioned the treatment. Maintain hydration, fruit juices, etc. I suggest you take the antibiotic Cefixime for five days and a cranberry juice extract tablet for seven days.

For the skin infection consult a nearby dermatologist for a detailed evaluation if it is there for a long time.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor, thank you so much for the reply.

Can you give me a digital prescription with dosage?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  1. Tablet Cefixime 200 mg twice daily for five days.

Cranberry juice extract tablet does not require a specific dose. For getting a written prescription you have to consult a nearby physician.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor, thank you for the reply.

I also have hair fall problems and sleep problems. After sleeping for some time, I will wake up and could not sleep further. In the morning I am having headache and tiredness.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The hair fall could be due to androgenic alopecia which is genetic or could be due to chronic infection. I suggest you apply topical Minoxidil 2% over the scalp at night before going to bed. Consult your dermatologist for a detailed evaluation.

The sleep disturbance problem could be due to stress-related factors. For that behavioral counseling and anti-anxiety medication can be prescribed. Consult with a psychiatrist for a detailed examination.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
