Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

How long do fecal germs exist? My neighbor's dog uses my backyard as a toilet beneath my window. Should I be concerned about fecal dirt in the atmosphere?

Answered by Dr. Divakara. P

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Most fecal germs do not survive for more than a few hours. But if the dog is infested with some parasite, they can survive for a few days.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Will it contaminate the shower, toilet paper, and sink in toilets? I have OCD and read a few articles that when the toilet is flushed, germs get into the air and contaminate the towels and toothbrushes.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suspected that you have OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). After flushing, germs will not get into the air. So do not worry. Clean your toilets with disinfectant.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
