Can my eye strain cause daily headaches?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. From what you have described, your headaches may be due to refractive error as it is resolving temporarily on wearing glasses. It is important to use glasses with the correct power regularly during waking hours. Since you are a student, I assume that you are reading and using a computer or laptop fairly often. Continuous focusing can cause headaches.

I am worried about blurred vision after firework injury. Please help.

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. From what you have described, you have decreased vision after getting hit with firecracker debris. One possibility is that you may have some debris in your eyes still and in that case, you will most probably have irritation. The trauma may also have caused a reaction in the eye (uveitis), which can cause pain on looking at the light and blurred vision. For now, I suggest an antibiotic eye drop like Moxifloxacin once in every three hours.

How to manage cloudy vision after cataract surgery?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. After a cataract surgery, the patient is put on a steroid and antibiotic drops to reduce the reaction in the eye, the swelling of the cornea if any and to prevent infection. You have mentioned that you experience cloudiness and pain at night after cataract surgery. Is your vision normal during the day? Are you pain free during the day? How many days have had been since the cataract surgery? If you have pain and cloudiness, which is more at night, then you may be having a recurrent reaction in the eye or increased pressure in the eye. It is best to show your treating ophthalmologist at the earliest.

The residual redness may be due to persistent inflammation of cartilage like structure of the eyelid. These are the things you can do.

I do not like to wear glasses. What is your opinion about contact lens?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. If your power is - 5 and - 6, then your vision will be very poor for distant objects. In order to see things which are not near, you will have to wear glasses. Contact lenses are also fine if you do not have dry eye or allergic conjunctivitis. Your treating eye doctor will be able to tell you if you have any of these.

What is the time limit to do dilated eye exam?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. There is no time limit for dilation. The doctor would have called your daughter to do a post-dilation test. In which case, no further dilation is needed. The initial dilation was to check the power of the eyeafter paralyzing the accommodating muscles.

Got injured eyes and stitches done. Will I be able to open my eyes?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. From what you have described, you have undergone suturing inside your eye, which means that you had a corneal or conjunctival injury. Your treating ophthalmologist will remove the sutures when adequate healing has taken place. As long as the sutures are there you will have some sort of irritation. I assume that you cannot open your eyes due to the irritation.

Do you have any suggestion for vision-related tinnitus?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. From what you have described, you have tinnitus that gets exacerbated on looking at the computer screen. There is no established connection between looking at a bright object and worsening of tinnitus, though there may be isolated reports. Tinnitus is usually caused due to an inner ear problem. In my opinion, you should seek an ENT consultation instead of an eye checkup as your main problem is tinnitus.

Shall I go ahead with laser capsulotomy for PCO eye?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. Thank you for the detailed description of your diagnosis. From what you have described, you had undergone LASIK in the right eye, which has an uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) on medical treatment. For this you plan for a combined trabeculectomy and cataract surgery (for the posterior subcapsular cataract). Your left eye has posterior capsule opacification (PCO) for which you have been advised to undergo laser capsulotomy.

What is the chance of transmission of eye problem to next generation?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. From what you have described, you have a high myopic refractive error (minus 18 diopter) in the right eye. I am assuming that the vision in your left eye is normal. If it is not, then please let me know. The right eye is likely to be amblyopic that is it did not receive enough stimulation during childhood and hence has poor vision.
