Why is my baby refusing to feed after a vaccination?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. Pentaxim is Diphtheria vaccine, which causes comparatively less pain and fever. But the same can cause pain and discomfort in few babies. Maybe your baby is having pain and discomfort due to which she is refusing to breastfeed. Sometimes, rotavirus vaccine can also cause refusal to feed.

Why do babies rub their eyes frequently?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq. I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries. I understand your concern and will try to help you with it. Babies may experience watering from their eyes due to a narrow nasolacrimal duct, which causes blockage and lacrimation, due to which they rub. This can be reduced by regular ocular massage. Older infants rub their eyes, ears, and also pull their hair, as they keep playing and exploring their body parts.

Does a fever and throat infection mean swine flu symptoms?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I can understand your concern. If he is active otherwise, I suggest you continue the medicines which the doctor has prescribed for one more day and closely monitor him. If he is easily tired and not too active, then the swine flu test can be considered. If he is active but a high fever continues beyond 24 hours, you can review with the doctor, so that the investigations can be suggested based on his condition.

What could cause slow weight gain in a 2-month-old baby?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. I read your query and understand your concern. Firstly, if the baby is active, feeding well, and developing well, do not worry about the weight. Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. Please resend the attachment. If there is pneumonitis on the X-ray, it is better to admit him as it can spread. Intravenous antibiotics are more effective and the response is quick. We cannot differentiate H1N1 and pneumonia on the X-ray.

What causes cold, stomach pain, and leg pain?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I think she is suffering from a viral infection. I suggest you give her syrup Alerid (Cetirizine) 5 mL twice a day for cold. This syrup makes few children drowsy though not all. Hence avoid morning dose if she is going to school.

What is a suitable cow's milk alternative for my 1-year-old?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. Unpasteurized milk is not advisable to be given, as pasteurization is required to kill all the bacteria or germs in the milk. I think the baby does have some issues with cow milk and is crying due to colic (abdominal pain). Formula milk (any stage 3) is always better than cow milk as its composition is matched with that of breast milk so that it can be digested easily. Also, it is supplemented with all the vitamins, iron, calcium and other minerals required for growth.

My daughter throws up every time she eats. Please help.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I have read your query and gone through the reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). The vomiting could be due to gastritis or food poisoning. As there is no fever or diarrhea, infection is unlikely and food poisoning generally subsides in two to three days, which has not been the case. So, gastritis may be the likely cause.
