What are the causes and symptoms of pancreatic cancer?

Hello doctor,

I have pain under the rib on the right side, just below the breast. I had gallbladder removal when I was 26 years old. I am now 32-year-old and when I place my hand below the right breast area and slide slightly to the right, I have a burning type of weird pain on a specific spot. I do not have any weight loss, fever, or chills, but vomiting has occurred. It is vague. I am not in excruciating pain, but it is on and off. It seems that alcohol and fatty foods aggravate it. I am freaking out because of this pain. Otherwise, I am healthy and slightly overweight. Kindly suggest as I am worried if it is pancreatic cancer.

Thank you.

I am passing maroon colored stools. Could it be due to stomach bleeding?

Hi doctor,

I am a 23 year old female of 5'6" and weighs 250 lbs. Currently, I am on an antibiotic for tooth abscess. I have been taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol for the pain. Now, I believe that I may have stomach bleeding due to a maroonish colored stool. I just need to know if I should visit the ER right now.

My fiance has gained 40 kg in less than a year. What could be the reason?

Hello doctor,

I am concerned about excessive weight gain by my fiance. He is a 29 year old male, whose height is approximately 6 feet, and he weighs 150 kg. Over the last two years, my fiance had lost around 40 kg using the Banting diet, common in our country. It is based on the principles of no carbohydrates, starches or sugars and higher protein, but does allow the odd cheat meal. Since then, in the last eight months, he has had two attempts at quitting smoking and was put on Pendine 5 and Zartan CO for high blood pressure. He has a family history of hypertension. As a result, he has gained weight at quite a quick pace despite sticking to his Banting diet. The meal sizes have not changed, and he has an active lifestyle. We hike or do vigorous walks of 5 to 8 km on most days.

At this stage, he has almost gained the full 40 kg back in less than a year, which seems very excessive and way above normal for quitting smoking. I was wondering if perhaps he has some thyroid issues, as his mother has hypothyroidism. Or could it be a side effect of the medication? We need some advice. We are at a loss at what to do. I would like to add that he struggled with weight issues since childhood. Also, we are currently not in his country, so visiting a doctor may be difficult.

Why does a patient with pulmonary embolism experience lightheadedness and occasional breast pain despite taking medications?

Hello doctor,

I recently got discharged from the hospital with a diagnosis of PE in one submental right basal lobe and the other submental medial middle lobe. I have been asked to take Xarelto 15 mg twice daily. After discharge, I have felt lightheadedness several times with occasional pain in the center near the right breast. I also want to know if a hard lump can develop under the skin from a Clexane injection site. I underwent certain tests which have shown positive D-dimer and positive VQ scan. Currently, I am taking Sifrol, Nexium, thyroid medications, Crestor, and Symbicort inhalers.

Kindly help.
