I have a cold, cough, runny nose with yellowish secretion. What should I do now?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand you have had nasal discharge and mild cough for four days, and you are currently on decongestant and antiallergic medications. You appear to be having a viral illness. If the nasal secretions are yellowish all the time, you probably have a secondary bacterial infection. Your current medications, along with a decongestant nasal spray and vitamin C will be helpful.

Why am I unable to control my high blood pressure with regular medications?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand you have hypertension. You are still recording mild hypertension, despite taking your medicines regularly. How to manage acute productive cough with breathlessness?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I have read your query and understand your concern. A prominent aortic knuckle is a normal finding in a 61-year-old lady, especially if she has hypertension. The right hilar prominence is possibly due to lymph node enlargement due to lung infection or lymph node infiltration. She will need to get a few tests like RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test for COVID (coronavirus disease), blood tests like CBC (complete blood count), ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), CRP (C-reactive protein), lDH (intradialytic hypotension), procalcitonin, ferritin, liver and kidney functions, blood sugar, and a CT (computed tomography) scan of the chest.

Why am I having a sleep disorder at a young age for a month?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand that you are not getting enough sleep. I also understand that you are awake from late morning and the early morning on most days and I assume that this is related to your work schedule. Anxiety is usually a reason for reduced sleep. How is your appetite? Are you able to sleep alone in a dark room, undisturbed by others? Please get investigations done for CBC (complete blood count), vitamin B12, vitamin D, liver and kidney functions, and blood sugar.

Is a TT required again as the dog licked the toes?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. From your statement, I understand that a dog licked your toes, and you want to know if you require a further dose of TT vaccine (Tetanus Toxoid), which you took a month ago. By vaccine, I understand you are referring to TT and not the anti-rabies vaccine. The administration of TT would depend on many factors. If you have been immunized in your childhood with four doses of DPT (diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis) along with a booster at five years and ten years, then you need to take a booster dose of TT only once in ten years, and therefore you do not require it now.

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. Thank you for contacting me. I understand you are breastfeeding and have taken U35, which contains Acetaminophen and Codeine Phosphate. It is alright to take Acetaminophen until a dose of two grams, but ingestion of Codeine is not recommended. The reason is that Codeine and its primary metabolite, Morphine, can pass through breast milk and can cause respiratory depression in your child.
