What is the treatment for rheumatoid arthritis pain?

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for the past four years and it was diagnosed six months ago. I feel excruciating pain in my lower and upper limb joints and I am not feeling relief even after taking NSAIDs. I was given steroids and penicillin, and it did not work properly. The pain is mostly in the knee, hip, elbow, and shoulder joints.

My grandmother has hand and shoulder pain. Is it because of taking two medications for gout?

Hi doctor,

My 83-year-old mother is taking two different medications for gout. She has consistent hand and shoulder pain with weakness. She is unable to catch her walker grip and even she is unable to catch her water bottle. One of the pharmacists told me that one of the medications taken by her can cause flare-ups only and I found that it can cause these symptoms in my mother. We are thinking to stop taking the second medicine for gout. Is it good? She is taking Mitigare and Potassium chloride daily. Previously, she had rheumatoid arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Her uric acid and potassium levels were normal. She had similar symptoms while having high potassium levels. Kindly advise.

What symptoms can I expect with positive HLA-B27 and spondyloarthritis?

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female. Six months ago, I did some blood tests and my doctor said that I resulted positive for HLA-B27 and that she suspects me to have spondyloarthritis. But she did not explain to me things that I can or cannot do from now on. I take one tablet of vitamin D weekly and anti-inflammatory medication. Can you tell me about people that have the type I have? What should I not do in my daily life and what symptoms should I be curious about? And can I donate blood?

Pain from the right side of my back moved to the hips. Please help.

Hi doctor,

I have pain in my hips. I began to have a slight ache on the right side of the lower back and then it got moved to my hip-deep in the socket like a toothache. I have had pain in my bones also for the past two days. Taking a hot water bath helped me and I was able to move around a little bit but still, I have pain. Sometimes, my knees get swollen and they become hot to the touch. This never happened to me before. I had a low-grade fever on and off. I have a couple of sores in my mouth and a couple of knuckles on my hands hurts a lot. I tested my RA factor before few months and everything was normal. I tested for lupus and the result came back negative. I have severe Raynaud's too. My urine smells a lot in the morning even after drinking plenty of water. A few years ago, I had knee swelling where I could not walk and the pain was incredible for a couple of days, and went away after a few days. My C3 and C4 were deranged and other values were normal.
