Why do I have left rib pain in asthma?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. You seem to have developed pleurisy or pleuritic chest pain following an acute asthma attack. I would recommend, first of all, a chest X-ray to rule out any pleural effusion as well as any pneumonia. If your chest X-ray remains clear, then you would need treatment with a short course of steroid like Prednisone along with a bronchodilator like Levosalbutamol and Budesonide. This should resolve within a few days of treatment.

How long can I take Ibuprofen for pain from broken ribs?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. Yes, Ibuprofen is a strong painkiller; it should not be taken often, as it has many side effects like gastritis and liver and kidney damage. But in the initial days of pain following a rib fracture, the pain is actually very severe. I suggest you try doing the following: Tramadol 50 mg (milligrams) twice daily or Oxycodone twice daily. Take Ibuprofen only when pain is severe.

In cases where there is no response to Cortisone as evidenced by the persistence of albumin in urine, we need to shift those patients on Cyclophosphamide and Azathioprine.

What do you recommend for my father's cellulitis leg?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. We are here to help you. In evaluating his case, my recommendations would be that he should be admitted for a week and should be given injectable broad-spectrum antibiotics according to his culture and sensitivity report. He would also require a color Doppler of his leg to rule out any evidence of deep vein thrombosis. He would require Insulin for perfect control of blood sugar till his wounds heal.

I have pain below ribs on the left. What is causing it?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. Rugae thickening by itself is not going to cause you stomach pain. Such thickening is usually normal or a result of hyperacidity, or rarely Menetrier's disease. Now, first of all, you need an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy as well as a biopsy to rule out Helicobacter pylori infection and other causes. Tuberculosis can also cause such thickening.
