Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am about five weeks pregnant, and I do not want to continue the pregnancy. So I am considering a medical abortion. Will this affect my fertility? Is there a chance of getting pregnant again? Or any future pregnancy complications?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Medical abortion is a safe procedure. Abortion usually does not affect your future chances of becoming pregnant and having children. However, if you develop a womb infection after the abortion, there is a minimal risk to your fertility and future pregnancies. It is, therefore, necessary to treat infections. If the infection is not treated properly, it can spread to your fallopian tubes and ovaries. As a result, you may develop a high-grade fever, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, or discharge following the abortion. Your doctor must be informed if this occurs.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
