Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am about five weeks pregnant, and I do not want to continue the pregnancy. So I am considering a medical abortion. Will this affect my fertility? Is there a chance of getting pregnant again? Or any future pregnancy complications?
Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Medical abortion is a safe procedure, and it generally does not impact your future ability to conceive or have children. However, if you develop an infection in the uterus after the procedure, there is a minimal risk to your fertility and future pregnancies. It is important to treat any infections promptly. If left untreated, the infection can spread to the fallopian tubes and ovaries, potentially leading to high-grade fever, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, or discharge following the abortion. You should inform your doctor if any of these symptoms occur.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
