Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am suffering from acid reflux. When I wake up and have my breakfast, I feel a vomiting sensation and ultimately vomit after some time. I had a previous history of the same but got cured for the time being. But now I am having the same issue again.
Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Recurrent acid reflux can be due to many causes. It is seen in obese people, people who smoke, those who have a hiatus hernia, or when you take too much spicy, sour, and fried food, and also seen in persons who lie down immediately after food. Generally, it is caused by a lower esophageal sphincter. An infection of the stomach by a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori also can give you similar symptoms.
It is advisable to have a diet with reduced spices and sour foods and avoid fried food and smoking, if any. Do not lie down immediately after food. You will be comfortable with added pillows. Proton pump inhibitor medicines and, at times, promotility medication along with antacids containing local anesthetic will help you. I suggest you check for the presence of stomach infection with the bacteria mentioned above, and if positive, a course of medications is required.
I hope I have answered your query.
Take care.
Regards.
