Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 27 years old, with a height of 5 feet 4 inches, and weigh 110 pounds. I suffer from acne and scars. Presently, there is no active acne, and I am not using any medication. I have a history of recurring acne, leaving black scars, persisting for the past five years. Kindly guide.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I have reviewed the details you provided (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) and understand your concern about post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or dark spots after acne. This occurs due to inflammation from acne, subsiding to release melanin pigment under the skin, leading to spots. Sun exposure, repeated touching, or expressing acne can also trigger these spots, and genetic susceptibility may contribute.

I suggest the following:

  1. Ethiglo Face Wash: It consists of 1% Kojic acid, 0.5% vitamin C, 1%, Liquorice, 0.5% Nicotinamide, 1.5% blend of AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and BHA (beta hydroxy acid), 0.5% Triclosan, vitamin E, and 0.5% D-Panthenol. Use one pump on a wet face, gently massage in circular motions, and wash off after 30 seconds. Use twice daily.

  2. Melaglow Rich Cream: It consists of licorice extract 0.120%, Petrowhite 90%, Arbutin 2%, and Niacinamide 4%. Apply a thin layer on dark spots at night, leave overnight, and wash off in the morning. Use for 8 to 12 months for significant results.

  3. Ethiglo ET Tablet: It is a combination of Glutathione and vitamin C. Dissolve one tablet in 200 ml of normal temperature water and consume as a drink after dinner daily for three months. Consult your doctor and take the medications accordingly.

  4. Ensure a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber, and consume at least 12 glasses of water per day.

  5. Use sunscreens every two to three hours from 9 am to 5 pm on the entire face to prevent pigmentation intensification.

  6. Consider skin procedures like chemical peels once every two weeks on the face for faster pigmentation removal.

  7. Avoid picking or touching acne.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
