Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I suffered from clogged pores and pimple scars on my face for three to four months. I have a habit of squeezing the pimples, and even though the pimples subside, the spots remain as such. Kindly suggest an effective treatment.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

As acne is a chronic problem, it will require regular follow-up and long treatment. Acne usually occurs up to the age of 25 to 28 years or maybe more. Once the acne lesions heal they leave acne scars but these acne scars heal with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) for a short duration in light skin individuals, but in darker individuals, these PIH persist for a longer duration may be for two to three weeks. This can be treated by using depigmenting cream, sunscreen and also sun protection clothing. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  1. Apply Aziderm gel (Azelaic acid) 20 % during the night daily.

  2. Face guard gel (non comedogenic sunscreen) with SPF (sun protection factor) 50 + can be used daily in the morning hours all over the face after taking a bath and can be repeated once after four hours.

  3. Dietary restrictions should be followed such as avoiding oily spicy junk food, milk products, and non-vegetarian foods.

  4. Consume water adequately which helps in hydrating the skin.

  5. Cutiwash soft foam (Cocamidopropyl betaine) face wash for cleaning your face twice daily.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
