Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 19-year-old and I have had acne since middle school. So for a total of five or more years, I have had blemishes and acne all over my face and now I have it in college. I am going to cut to the chase since you probably know I have tried everything by now. I wanted to know what a good oral medication would be since I have never used anything besides scrubs and normal acne-solving medication. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Pimples are hormonal and occur due to oily skin. I suggest you do the following-

1. Do not use hair oil and any sticky cream on the face.

2. Avoid oily food, chocolate, and milk products.

3. Avoid dust, use sunscreen (above 30 SPF).

4. Do not rub any cream on the face.

5. Do not use steroid-containing creams.

6. Continue treatment for at least one month.

7. Facewash or soap is not a treatment and is not much useful.

8. Do not touch acne and avoid pressing it. For treatment, use Clindamycin-containing cream. This is more preventive and curative. Use it all over the face in the morning. Use Adapalene gel (Adapalene and Defferine) over acne in night.

9. I suggest you take a tablet of Doxycycline 100 mg once a day.

Thank you.
