Patient's Query

Hello doctor.

I am an 18-year-old, 5 feet and 4 inches tall, and weigh roughly 143 pounds. I have severe acne on my chin, around the brow, sides of my cheeks, forehead, and occasionally on my cheeks. For the past three months, I have been taking Tretinoin (Isotrex) gel. It was fine for at least a month, but I believe it has now worsened. I have tried several other over-the-counter acne treatments that have not helped. However, I do occasionally take Benzoyl peroxide, which hurts my face yet strangely calms my acne. I do not eat dairy or meat. I eat a lot of veggies, fruits, and nuts, and I drink a lot of water. I also eliminated gluten for some time to check whether that was the reason, but it was not.

Please help

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You appear to have acne and oily skin. Acne vulgaris is a common skin condition in teenagers and adults. Because it affects pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands, it frequently affects areas with a high density of oil glands, such as the face, chest, back, and upper arms. It appears that you have grade 2 to grade 3 acne. After consulting your doctor, you can begin using Faceclin gel (Clindamycin topical (1 % w/w), Nicotinamide (4 % w/w)) during the day over pimples, and Microbenz 3.5 % gel (Benzoyl peroxide) at night over the entire face for about two to three months, and take a capsule of Doxycycline 100 mg (antibacterial) once daily for the same duration. For face cleaning, you can use face care face wash (Licorice extract PG and mono laurin) twice daily. You must adhere to particular dietary limitations, such as avoiding junk food, greasy hot food, milk products, and nonvegetarian meals. Make use of a lot of water to moisturize your skin.

Thank you.
