Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 19 year old girl. I have pimples on my face back to back and leave black dots on my face.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You can prevent them by doing the following.

1. Use an anti-acne soap, like acnelak or derma dew acne.

2. Drink lots of water.

3. Use an absorbent powder like talc powder daily. This will absorb sweat and control acne.

Medications such as Doxycycline or Retinoids can be used if acne has not been controlled with the above measures. These are prescription drugs, and you may need to see a dermatologist.

Acne breakouts and the resulting black dots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) can be frustrating, but you can take steps to manage them. Here are some general tips:

Cleanse your face twice a day: Use a gentle cleanser to remove excess oil, dirt, and bacteria from your skin. Avoid harsh scrubbing, as it can irritate the skin and worsen acne.

Avoid touching your face: Touching your face can transfer bacteria and oils from your hands to your skin, potentially exacerbating acne. Try to keep your hands away from your face as much as possible.

Use non-comedogenic products: Look for skincare and makeup products labeled as non-comedogenic, meaning they are less likely to clog pores and contribute to acne breakouts.

Do not squeeze or pick at pimples: Picking at pimples can lead to scarring and further inflammation. It's best to resist the urge to squeeze or pop them.

Use topical treatments: Over-the-counter acne treatments containing ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can help reduce acne breakouts. Follow the instructions on the product and be consistent with your usage.

Moisturize: Even if you have oily skin, it is important to moisturize to maintain a healthy skin barrier. Choose a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer.

Protect your skin from the sun: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF (sun protection factor) 30 daily to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Sun exposure can worsen acne and lead to darkening of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Remember, everyone's skin is unique, so it is important to find a skincare routine that works best for you. If you are unsure or experiencing persistent acne, it is always a good idea to consult with a dermatologist for a proper evaluation and personalized recommendations.

Let me know if you have any other doubts.

Thank you.
