What could be done to reduce acne breakouts?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26-year-old female, with a height of 4 feet 3 inches, and weighs 125.66 pounds. I have been getting a lot of acne on my face three months after my marriage. I have no history of acne before marriage. I have been taking thyroid medicines since 1.5 years before marriage. I normally work out in the gym four times a week. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen your query and understand your concern.

From your description, it seems you have mild-grade acne. Acne vulgaris is a common skin problem in adolescents and in adulthood. It involves pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands and is therefore seen to involve areas where oil glands are dense, like the face, chest, back, and upper arms. In your case, it looks like grade 1 to grade 2 acne. Please get a review with pictures for accurate grading, and to help in treatment. You can start using Faceclin gel (Clindamycin topical1% w/w and Nicotinamide(4% w/w) during the day time over the pimples and MICROBENZ (Benzoyl peroxide) 3.5% gel at night over the whole face for around two to three months, after consulting your doctor or nearby dermatologist. I suggest Face Care face wash twice daily to clean the face. Certain dietary restrictions like avoiding or limiting oily and spicy food, junk food, milk products, and non-vegetarian food can be followed. Drink a lot of water, which keeps your skin hydrated.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need some help.

Thank you.
