Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old female, and I have always had regular periods. However, this time I am late by six days, and I am in doubt that it happened because my boyfriend fingered me, and by mistake, I fingered myself with his fluid. Am I pregnant? Please help me with my condition.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I have read your concern in detail. Delayed or missed periods do not necessarily mean pregnancy. Also, fingering (even though it has body fluids) never causes pregnancy. The chances of pregnancy by this method are very low. So, rather than trying to bring regular periods, we should focus on finding out its cause.

There can be numerous causes, and the most common ones are stress, anxiety, and pregnancy. Once we have worked out these and found that none of these is the main cause, next comes the medical diseases like thyroid diseases, prolactin disorders, and ovarian disorders. I suggest you need a few tests like thyroid function tests, prolactin tests (PRL), and ultrasound of the lower abdomen, and once the diagnosis is confirmed, it can be easily cured with treatment. All in all, you need the proper diagnosis and management. You can discuss this with your doctor for further management.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
