Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have something near the anus that has been there for a few years, and sometimes it increases in size and is painful, but I feel relieved when it pops. On the other hand, sometimes it is painful when pressure is applied. I have attached the picture.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
From the attached image (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it seems you have repeated perianal abscesses. Usually, a fistula is responsible. This fistula is called a fistula-in-ano or anal fistula and is of several types. Based on the type, the treatment varies.
It requires a physical examination; hence, I suggest you consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent. If needed, you will need an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the region.
That should give us a roadmap for the treatment.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Are there any treatments that I can try?
I have tried Fucicort a few times. Does it help?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
A fistula forms over time, and initially, it is just an abscess.
You can try a Sitz bath (soaking the rectal area in a tub of warm water) to relieve symptoms, but a physical examination is necessary.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
