Can a vaginal fungal infection cause extreme itching in the anus and pain in private parts?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old. My anus has been itchy for a few days. On the second day after this started, the itching was so severe that I had to excuse myself for visiting the bathroom. Once I got there, I noticed a yellowish-brown discharge on my underwear. It was very difficult for me to pass stool the night before. After returning from work, I used the bathroom again, but it was difficult to pass stool. I noticed nothing on my underwear afterward, but my anus is still itchy. Today, my private parts started to hurt, and the area around them started to itch.

Please help me find a solution to this problem.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. However, it is difficult to come to one diagnosis based on your symptoms. It can be a local rectal or anal inflammatory condition. You may also have inflammation around the vagina. I suggest you get an anal and vaginal examination done by a physician. After examination, if it seems like a vaginal fungal infection, Clotrimazole (antifungal) powder can be applied three to four times daily. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be prescribed for pain relief and reducing inflammation. I suggest you consult your physician for a primary examination.

I hope this has helped you out.

Thanks and regards.
