Can a bulky and an anteverted uterus pose a threat to the fetus?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am five weeks and one day pregnant. I had an ultrasound done and found that my uterus is bulky and anteverted. A single gestational sac is seen with a regular outline, and there is no demonstrable yolk sac or fetal pole within it. I was suggested to take sonography after two weeks. However, the gynecologist said that this condition can be a cause for concern and that there might not be a good chance of success. Please suggest an opinion.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

We can expect to see the heartbeat of the fetus at around five weeks, however, there are instances when the conception can be slightly delayed and the heartbeat can be seen late. This may be your case as well. Sometimes, irregular cycles also lead to delayed conception. I suggest you stay positive since patience is the only key at present.

Let us hope for the best and kindly follow up after two weeks. Also, keep taking folic acid supplements.

Do let me know if you have any other concerns.

Thank you.
