Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a broken toe and I think it might be infected. I have consulted the physician, and they asked me to continue my antibiotics. I have been taking them for a week, and I am suffering from diarrhea and nausea. Can this be a result of an infection that has got into my bloodstream? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I have gone through your description and I can conclude that it is most probably antibiotic-induced diarrhea and gastritis.

I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions:

  • For, diarrhea, the antibiotics should be changed.
  • Have probiotics like capsule Vizylac (Lactic acid Bacillus) or Sporlac sachet (Lactic acid Bacillus) three times a day for five days. Keep two hours between antibiotics and these.
  • For nausea, avoid a fatty, oily, and spicy diet.
  • Have some walks after having food instead of taking a rest.
  • Have multiple small meals instead of heavy meals.
  • Have antibiotics after meals.
  • You should get an antacid prescribed if you are not taking tablets like Pan D (PAntoprazole) 40 mg or Esomiprazole and Domperidone combination before breakfast once a day for two weeks. If already receiving it, need to increase the dose to two times a day.
  • If it is not adequately relieved, then you should add a syrup of Sucral O suspension (Sucralfate) or Gelusil (Aluminium Hydroxide) two teaspoons three times a day for five days.
  • Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
