Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a teen currently in school and face anxiety issues along with acid reflux during examinations. Can I take Ashwagandha with Flebixen, an anti-depressant?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I understand your situation. You may have an anxiety disorder. There is a non-pharmacological management for it. You should try to follow the following guidelines to deal with it:

  1. You should exercise regularly for 30 to 45 minutes for example going for a walk.
  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not force yourself to stop your thoughts just let them be. It will increase your concentration and relax you.
  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked food and avoid junk food.
  4. You must drink enough water.
  5. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.
  6. You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills, language, or musical instruments.
  7. You should sleep seven to eight hours daily.
  8. Be bold and confident.
  9. You must take the help of your teacher and seniors for exam preparation. Do not prepare alone.
  10. Do not just read but apply some tricks that will help recall the concepts.
  11. Clear the concept of your topics. Make diagrams and flowcharts.
  12. You can take Ashwagandha at night with warm milk.
  13. Do not take the tablet Flebixen 0.5 mg, as it is not an anxiety medication. Such medications should be taken under the psychiatrist's guidance.

Get the following investigations done:

  1. CBC (complete blood count).
  2. Thyroid profile.
  3. Vitamin B12.
  4. Vitamin D3.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert with further queries.

Thank you.
