Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from asthma. I cannot do anything physically. I feel very tired and not able to breathe properly. Currently I am taking Deriphyllin. Please help me. I need some relief from this problem. Can you suggest a good solution for this? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I feel sorry for the symptoms you have. I am more than happy to assist in getting you out of this situation. Keep an eye on how to use the medications suggested to be used. Asthma is a disease that needs serial evaluation and World Health Organization recommends adjusting the dosages according to serial evaluation as every patient needs different regimens. May be due to some allergens like fomites (an object contaminated with infectious organisms), animal dander, open fresh air, pollution on roads, dust allergy from carpets in home, dust from your bedding, colognes, etc. Nasal or throat diseases also cause this issue in many patients. For example nasal polyps, nasal septal defects, etc. Do a respiratory function test, one test right now and keep as a record before starting the medications. Other test can be done few weeks later when you will be going to consult a physician about your condition. Use inhaler Albuterol sulfate (Proventil HFA or Ventolin HFA and ProAir HFA- use either of them as needed). If you feel short of breath and feel you are ongoing oxygen debt, take two puffs of this metered dose inhaler. Keep a record that how many times a week you need to use this inhaler. If you need to use it before or after an exercise of physical activity and then write that down separately that you needed to use it that many times with exercise related shortness of breath. Tablet Prednisolone (Pediapred or Prelone and Orapred) to be taken 5 mg two times a day. Tablet Montelukast 10 mg at evening once daily. Take tablet Fexofenadine 60 mg at night once daily. You need to start these medications right away. Get back after few weeks. We continuously have to keep an eye on the condition and treatment goes accordingly. In case you have fever, you may take tablet Acetaminophen.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
