Why do I still forget things despite ADHD systems?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have calendars, reminder apps, sticky notes, alarms and checklists all over the place. Despite all of that, I still forget appointments, leave tasks unfinished, and lose important items.
Why does a 51-year-old with ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) still forget things despite years of using systems? Sometimes I feel like I am working twice as hard as everyone else just to stay organized.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
First of all, anxiety and uncontrolled emotions cause brain distraction, so they make you forget everything, even if you have notes. So, you need to consider cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) (cognitive behavioral therapy), because cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) teaches you how to deal with stressful conditions calmly and how to control your emotions.
Second, healthy food that contains vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids, such as fish oil and flaxseed oil, enables your brain to synthesize neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. As a result, healthy food helps you with anxiety and ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder).
Junk food contains too much saturated fat and too much sugar, so it is harmful to your brain and body because the rapid rise and fall of blood glucose affects your mood. Finally, sports activities and meditation, besides limiting the time you spend in front of screens, can be helpful.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
