Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing back pain for six months now. I work in the IT field. When I wake up in the morning, I feel no pain. However, the pain starts after I sit down and begin working. It is very painful. I work abroad, and I took a vacation a month ago. During that time, I underwent an MRI, and the doctor said there is nothing to worry about; it is a mild bulge. I started taking some painkillers. Now that I am back to work, I am experiencing pain again after just ten minutes of sitting. Additionally, for the past week, I have been feeling numbness and pain in my left leg. I am really concerned about this situation, and I have no idea what to do next. Please provide guidance and suggest my next steps.

Hello,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern.

I have reviewed your MRI report (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity), which indicates a mild disc bulge at two levels: L4-5 and L5-S1. Now, let us discuss your symptoms. You are experiencing back pain while working in the IT (information technology) industry. I assume that you have limited physical activity on a daily basis. In cases like yours, where there is not much physical activity, the most common cause of back pain is muscle weakness resulting from insufficient physical activity. Another symptom you are facing is numbness in your left leg, likely due to nerve compression. Even though the MRI shows a mild disc bulge, even small bulges can lead to significant symptoms. Could you please provide information about the specific medications you have taken? How much physical activity do you engage in daily? Do you have any difficulties when walking long distances? Have you undergone any physiotherapy sessions?

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I used to do daily workouts at the gym, starting when I was 18 years old. However, I stopped due to experiencing back pain. Currently, my physical activity is very limited; it mainly involves office work and then going back home. I do not feel pain while walking long distances. I have never undergone physiotherapy. I have attached the details of the medications I have taken for your reference.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Okay, so you can take the first medicine, that is, Etoshine (Etoricoxib) , for a month or so if you feel the pain is severe. In addition to that, you need to do two things:

  1. Walk for 45 minutes continuously every day.
  2. Consult a physiotherapist to learn core-strengthening exercises and receive tips on maintaining good posture. Good posture is essential for you.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
