Hi doctor,
I am in my late sixties, with a bodyweight of 180 lbs and a body height of 6' 1". I have been having the symptoms of GERD for six months. They got better with the tablet Omeprazole 20 mg for about two months. My upper endoscopy was done a month ago and it showed gastritis. After that, for the last four weeks, I am having stomach upset every morning, occasional mild nausea, and slight bloating after eating. However, my appetite is still fairly good.
Some new symptoms have developed recently like right mid-back pain that comes and goes away (not severe); then later, there was a burning low back pain which occurs on either right or left side. This occasional low-back pain is triggered by leaning against the lower back. There is also, at times, a palpable node under the left jaw and occasional itching on the neck.
I am taking the tablet Omeprazole 40 mg, the tablet Carafate, the tablet Pepcid AC 40 mg, and the tablet Metoprolol.

There are two main causes for your back pain:
The presence of a palpable lymph node under your left jaw is due to any bad teeth you might have on that side.
Apart from medications, you need to adjust your diet as per your gastritis symptoms.

Thanks for your response.
There have been many weeks of daily indigestion, because of the GERD; then there is the new and continuing mid-back pain also. I am doubtful about the pancreatic disease. Does that seem unlikely?

I advise you to get further investigations done.
We can think over a lot of things but do not get stressed, that is why I suggest you go for an abdominal ultrasound to check for, not only pancreas but gallbladder diseases too. The ultrasound should be done early in the morning in a fasting state to evaluate the gallbladder and other internal organs better.
At your age, we should also evaluate the status of the kidneys because of common prostate issues. The abdominal ultrasound will check your prostate too so, better get an abdominal ultrasound and urine analysis done. If nothing positive comes in them, then it is a musculoskeletal problem.
