Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing abnormal greenish discharge for at least a month now. I did the pap smear and the result is out. There is a shift of flora suggestive of bacterial vaginosis, now the fungal organism's morphology is consistent with Candida spp. What would be the best thing to do and what drugs should I be taking? An anti-fungal since the spp is a Candia or anti-bacterial for it is suggestive for bacterial vaginosis. I was diagnosed with UTI recently but the doctor suspected me of STI since I have 60 pus cells per field. So he prescribed me Unasyn for one week after taking the medication I had a yeast infection which is expected because of the antibiotics. I had probiotic food and that yeast infection was gone. I had sexual contact and took emergency pills, and four contraceptives a day. After that abnormal discharge happens. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. I suggest taking antibiotics course to cure this infection.

1. Take a tablet of Doxycycline (Lactose monohydrate, yellow iron oxide) 100 mg twice daily.

2. Tablet Metronidazole (Hydroxypropyl cellulose, Hypromellose) thrice daily.

3. Tablet Pan 40 (Pantoprazole) mg twice daily before the meal.

4. Candid vaginal pessary keeps this in the vagina while sleeping, all for seven days.

Try to avoid intercourse for one to two weeks till the infection is there or at least use condoms while having intercourse, to avoid such subsequent infections, keep that area clean and dry, change undergarments two times a day, and wash your genital with soft cleansers. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
