Hello doctor,

I am continually belching with blurred vision, hiccups, and sweating. I have been eating Omez insta for two weeks. The belching has stopped, and I have a black stool, so I stopped the medication, and the symptoms came back. What should I do now?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your case history and attached laboratory investigations (attachments have been removed to protect the patient's identity). Your ultrasound report is normal. Black stools are not normal at all. This reflects upper gastrointestinal bleeding (like bleeding ulcer in the stomach or severe gastritis). Black stools can be a result of iron supplements as well if you are taking them. But as per history, you used Omez insta, which is good medicine for acid suppression. In your case, you must check your:

1) Complete blood profile to see your hemoglobin levels.

2) Stool detailed report.

3) Stool test for occult blood loss.

Stop painkillers intake (especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Restart Omez D (Domperidone and Omeprazole) double dose twice daily after consulting with a specialist and with their consent. Visit a nearby doctor for blood pressure, pulse monitoring, and for the above tests.

Hello doctor,

I have been taking Omegavit for 9 days now. I had typhoid last month, so I did a full blood test, and my hemoglobin level was normal. Omez insta is working for me, so can I start Omez insta instead of Omez D, and for how long I should take Omez insta? Also, can I take Digel mint?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, you can use Omez insta (Omeprazole) for up to 2 weeks. Black stools are not normal; if it is dark brown, that is normal.
