Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have recently had mild Bell's palsy after a few days of earache, but now my vision in both eyes is very blurry, and my movements seem somewhat shaky. I wanted to know if this is normal or if something else is happening. Currently, I am taking steroid medicines. Kindly suggest your opinion on this.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concerns.

It is less likely that your symptoms are related to Bell’s palsy.

But I recommend consulting a neurologist for a physical exam and performing some tests.

1. Thyroid hormone levels.

2. A brain MRI.

3. Blood test for Lyme disease.

Because you are taking steroids, I recommend monitoring your blood pressure values. Anxiety cannot be excluded, either.

Hope you will find this information helpful.

Thanks and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

So would the Bell’s palsy I have been diagnosed with have nothing to do with the blurred vision? I have not been having any headaches, fevers, or rash. It all just started with a pain in my ear.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The pain behind the ear is typical of Bell's palsy, which is damage to the facial nerve in the region where it exits the skull. It has nothing to do with the eyes. It is normal if you have blurred vision only in the eye affected by Bell's palsy because it gets dry. In such cases, artificial tears should be poured on this eye, and you should close it with a sticker during the night. The tremor in your hands could be related to anxiety caused by the steroids you take.

Hope you will find this answer helpful.

Thanks and take care.
