Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had sex for the first time with my husband. I have bleeding still now. I think that my bleeding started to occur due to my hymen being stretched or torn. As my bleeding continued, I thought that I started to have periods as I experience irregular periods. My bleeding was more like spotting. It happens after passing nickel-sized blood clots. Is it normal to have blood clots during periods? The number of blood clots has reduced to two to three numbers by now. But the size varies and it does not remain larger than the size of a nickel. I do not have any pain. I did not have sex with my husband again.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You have suffered from a hymen tear along with some minor bruise inside vagina as you had intercourse for the first time. As you have a history of irregular periods, do not be tensed and worried. I suggest you sit on the edge of the bed, chair, or in front of a mirror and then examine your vagina for any injury. Wash your vagina with V-wash. Apply Surfaz SN cream (Beclomethasone, Neomycin, and Clotrimazole) locally outside the vagina. Keep the area dry and avoid doing intense exercise. Wear loose cotton underwear and use barrier contraception like condoms while doing sex.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have examined my vagina. I did not see any external injuries. When can I have sex with my husband again? Do we need to wait until my bleeding stops?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can do sex with your husband. Be gentle. Do sex with barrier contraception like condoms to avoid having transmission of any infection if you are unable to locate a small bruise.

Patient's Query

Thank you for helping me.
