Hi doctor,
I have swollen and bleeding gums. I recently consulted a dentist and now I do not have any pain or swollen gum bleeding. On his advice, I took a tooth X-ray, and he said root canal treatment was necessary as I had a bone infection. I am attaching my X-ray report for reference. Please check and provide me proper resolution on whether root canal treatment is necessary or not. He told me that he will remove wisdom teeth and then he will do a root canal for the adjacent teeth. I would like to know whether it is a serious problem. At present, I am not feeling any pain. Please mention any alternate treatment apart from a root canal (it can be curable by medicines alone). I am getting scared about root canal treatment.

Yes, I have reviewed the attached image (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity). You have a serious problem on that side where the wisdom tooth is present. The wisdom tooth has to be extracted as soon as possible else the problem will come again and again. The root canal treatment for the tooth ahead of it is also necessary but can be delayed for some time after the wisdom tooth extraction. Wisdom tooth removal is very important and urgent, according to your X-ray. You can see the dark circle around the root of the tooth, which indicates severe bone loss and infection.
