Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is in his 20s now. He often has bleeding while brushing. Unfortunately, he is very ignorant about this. I keep pestering him to go to a dentist, which he refuses to do. Since he had a horrible experience in the past, he is still scared and unwilling to go to the dentist. Why are his gums bleeding? Is there any way to stop the bleeding? Any over-the-counter medicines?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The teeth and gums need thorough cleaning by a dentist to remove all calculus and plaque. Inflamed gums cause bleeding. The cleaning procedure is painless so motivate him to go. You can use mouthwash and warm salt water gargle twice daily to reduce inflammation.

Thank you.
