Hello doctor,

I am a 40-year-old male and I always feel bloated. Once I eat pulses, I feel very bloated. I know that pulses are rich in protein but these days I am having this bloating issue. I also have a big tummy. Is there any way to reduce my tummy and get rid of this bloating when I am having pulses? Is there any way that I can cook my pulses differently? Kindly suggest.

I suggest you follow the below instructions:

1. For abdominal bloating and distended abdomen, you can use regular probiotics capsules or sachet once daily for two to three weeks.

2. Antacid syrup like Gaviscon (Sodium alginate and Sodium bicarbonate) syrup 10ml post meals would help bloating too.

3. Regular walking and weight reduction would help you to reduce your tummy

4. Pulses are the food source of protein, but if you are unable to tolerate it, you can switch to other sources of protein like eggs, seafood, and meat.

5. For pulses, you can change spices and try whether you can tolerate them or not.

6. Another point, do not fill your stomach at once, take small frequent meals, this would help too.
