Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am A 30-year-old male. My height is 5.41 feet and 64.96 inches, and I weigh 201 pounds (overweight). Currently, my BP seems to be 170/100 after multiple readings. I have a cholesterol of around 240. The doctor has suggested some medicine for cholesterol and Mexmet-25 for High BP. My question is, is it safe to take BP medicine at 30 years of age, and can it be stopped later if BP comes down?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The medicine for high blood pressure you have been prescribed can not be stopped abruptly, and you should not forget to take it. Be it 30 or 20, If you have been evaluated and now been prescribed, you will have to take the drug. Just one thing I will make clear is, reduce your weight. Reduce the cholesterol with the drug you have been prescribed, which works efficiently, and your blood pressure readings will come down naturally. And the blood pressure medicine will give good result.

One more thing, do not panic and start some lifestyle changes (which I will be suggesting to you gradually) along with the medicines your doctor has prescribed. You will be able to maintain your vitals at a normal level without the drugs. You will have to have some patience and discipline. There are many programs and surveys done which prove that even some lifestyle changes can cure even patients of high-level coronary blockage.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of more queries.

Thank you.
