Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing fluctuating blood pressure readings, ranging from 151/101 mmHg to 134/90 mmHg. Initially, I started taking Amlodipine and Vasoprin, but I discontinued Vasoprin due to discomfort. Recently, I switched to Nifedipine because I do not have children yet. I am a 37-year-old female, weighing 145.5 pounds with a height of 6 feet and 3 inches. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Considering your blood pressure readings, I suggest continuing to take your medication, specifically Amlodipine, for blood pressure management. While Nifedipine is also used for this purpose, any changes to your medication regimen should be discussed with your healthcare provider. It is important to acknowledge that medication side effects can vary, and if discomfort persists with Nifedipine, consult your healthcare provider for alternative options. Additionally, lifestyle changes can aid blood pressure management:

I suggest maintaining a healthy weight by adopting the following:

  1. Maintain a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.

  2. Engage in regular exercise, aiming for at least 150 minutes per week.

  3. Manage stress through techniques like meditation or yoga.

  4. Limit alcohol intake to moderate levels.

  5. Quit smoking for better blood pressure control and overall health.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
