What are the diet plans to manage a higher BMI?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 41 years old and my body mass index (BMI) is 33. I honestly feel like I am running out of options. I have been on medicines for high blood pressure and cholesterol for years now, but nothing is bringing those triglycerides down. I tried Weight Watchers, keto, and even intermittent fasting, but nothing sticks. My doctor mentioned that metabolic surgery might help, but it is not usually done for people with higher BMIs. I do not want to wait till things get worse to do something about it. I also heard some folks with lower BMIs get approved if they have other risks, which I do. I am just tired of trying things that do not work in the long term.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I have gone through the detailed history you have given.

The two commonly used surgeries are

  1. Gastric bypass surgery

  2. Gastric sleeve surgery

Both these surgeries are indicated according to the age and weight of the patient.

So please let me know your age and weight so that I can guide you better.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
