Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have boil on my right knee. It is already pus-filled but has not popped on its own. My family wants to pop it with a stick. Is it a healthy approach? Or what should I do so the boil will heal on its own more quickly? (I have my 12th mid term in less than a week, and I need to be better before).

Thank you

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern and will try to help you with it.

According to your concern, popping a pus -filled boil with stick is not healthy at all because it may lead to dissemination of infection and eventually it ends up with a more widespread infected wound. That infected wound creates more problems for you. So, I will advise you not to do that. Just take one antibiotic and one painkiller and it will subside soon .

Thank you for consulting me.
