Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from occasional brain fog during the night for eight months. Brain fog was not happening when I was taking Clonazepam 0.25 mg twice daily. I have spoken to a psychiatrist about this but he is unable to resolve my problem. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. You may have either major depressive disorder or withdrawal of your tablet Clonazepam. You can gradually taper off your tablet Clonazepam 0.5 mg so you will not have to withdraw medication. But if you have depression then you should follow the below lifestyle for it:

Exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes like at least going for a walk. It will uplift your mood.

Do meditation for 20 minutes daily, just sit in one place in a comfortable position, and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts, just let it be. It will reduce your brain fog.

Eat healthy home-cooked foods, and avoid junk foods.

Drink enough water.

Spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family.

Spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.

Take seven to eight hours of sleep daily.

Avoid tobacco alcohol or any substance abuse.

Live your life, do not just spend it. Be bold and confident.

If you still have depression then you need to restart your tablet Escitalopram 10 mg daily in the morning after breakfast. Try to taper your tablet Clonazepam.

Investigations to be done:

CBC (complete blood count), thyroid profile, vitamin B12, vitamin D3 test.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
