I survive with pain on the left side of the brain and face. Could it be brain tumor?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have pain on the left side of the brain and face. It spreads to the neck too. I am having a tremor in the left hand. I am taking medicines for Parkinson's disease for two years as prescribed by a neurosurgeon. Please tell me if I have a chance to have brain cancer or a tumor. I am 45 years old and working as a lecturer.

I do not smoke and I do not have a habit of alcohol drinking. I take non-vegetarian foods like fish and chicken. I have mild blood pressure and my weight is 75 kilograms. As per BMI index, my weight should be around 69 kg. I have a black spot present above the left eye for the past two years. I feel some pain sometimes over there. I am still able to walk, teach, drive and I am able to lead a family. I have attached the MRI report. Please help me to know my current health status.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) report (attachment removed to protect patient identity) and there is no sign of any brain tumor. Stay relaxed and do not worry about it. The white matter changes occur due to postcranial trauma or hypertension. A demyelinating disorder cannot be excluded and these brain changes do not show a sign of multiple sclerosis. I recommend you check your thyroid hormone levels. It is important to have a follow-up with a brain MRI every year to investigate the possible progression of these changes.
