This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother had pneumonia. She got cured, but after some time, she developed breathing problems, itching, and face swelling sometimes. After a doctor saw her report, he diagnosed aspergillus. She took her asthma tablets and pumps daily. Slowly she started taking only one allergy pill (Montair). Every night if she misses even once, her itching and breathing problem comes again. Now it has been a year. But now, her report shows an increase in eosinophils, cholesterol, and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Her eosinophil count has never gone down. Now her body itches a lot, and breathing problem comes if she does not take an allergy pill. Her age is 48. She gets tired easily and sometimes forgets things. Can you please help me? We have been struggling for two years. What should we do to bring her back to normal? She developed all this asthma and itching after pneumonia in these two years. Please help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. After reading your problem, it may be allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis or aspergilloma. You have to go for sputum for fungal staining, total serum Ig E and serum Ig G specific for aspergillus you have to go for a CT (computed tomography) scan of the chest. You can take the following medications. Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent. 1. Tablet Medrol (Methylprednisolone) 16 mg once a day, 2. Capsule Itraconazole 200 mg twice a day. 3. Tablet AB- Flo-N (Acebrophylline and N- Acetylcysteine) 200 mg once a day. Thank you.
