Burning under skin on left foot and wrist. Why?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 57-year-old male with a weight of 75 kilograms and a height of five feet. I had a blood pressure of 150/100 mmHg. After that, I started taking Telmiduce 40. After taking it for 12 days, I checked my blood pressure and it was 130/100 mmHg. I am non-diabetic. I stopped taking Telmiduce and started to take Telvas CT 40. I am continuing it and I am going to check my blood pressure soon. I have a hemoglobin level of 13.6 g/dL, triglyceride of 36.1 mg/dL, RBC of 4.97 million mcL, HDL of 34.6 mg/dL, and LDL of 70.16 mg/dL.

I also have sinusitis from my childhood. Presently, I am taking Duonase nasal spray. I need an opinion on my problem. I have a burning sensation in my left foot on the top side. Though it is not continuous, it is frequent. It lasts for a few seconds and it comes four to five times a day. I have similar problems in my left-hand wrist. But it is not frequent. What is the possible cause? Kindly suggest medication if required.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the reports and everything seems to be perfect except RBC (red blood cells). It seems to be in an increased range. Do not be worried. You have a blood pressure of 130/100 mmHg and the systolic is 130. But diastolic has to be below 85. It is still high and this is the reason for you to have a burning sensation in the foot. High blood pressure leads to pulsation and due to that, burning sensation is felt. High blood pressure can also result in causing nose bleeding. Try to set a proper dose for your blood pressure and bring it down. Then everything will become fine. You have these symptoms due to high blood pressure. You can apply cold water compression on the foot. Please mention whether you have any swelling. Please mention whether you have diabetes. High blood pressure and diabetes can also cause burning sensation.
