This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 50 years old. I am 5 feet 5 inches tall and weigh 171 pounds. I do not have diabetes, but I have high blood pressure. I feel pain on the left side of my chest.

Please advise.

Answered by Dr. Ilir Sharka

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms could be related to gastroesophageal reflux or muscle pain. I recommend taking an antacid and Acetaminophen. If the pain persists, I suggest consulting with your primary care physician for a physical exam and the following tests: resting ECG (electrocardiogram), cardiac ultrasound, chest X-ray, fibro gastroscopy, complete blood count, PCR (polymerase chain reaction), and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) to check for inflammation. An exercise cardiac stress test would help rule out possible coronary artery disease. You should discuss these tests with your doctor.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
