Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old male. I feel pressure and a sort of burning sensation in my food pipe. My very first symptom occurred in the form of trapped burp in the chest last month. I had a bit of bulgum alongside which I keep throwing out. I took Pan 40 for two weeks and stopped thereafter as it was not doing much wonder. I consulted one doctor online he suggested me a five-day course of medicines Rifagut 550, Librax, and Rabium DSR. I started feeling better in the due course. Now it has been two days there have been mild symptoms like burning and pressure feeling in the food pipe post taking meals. Kindly suggest what to do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms sound more of a problem known as gastroesophageal reflux disorder which is due to reflux of contents into your esophagus from your stomach.

Have short frequent meals. Do not overload yourself. Have a walk after meals and do not directly lie down. Cut down your intake of coffee, and alcohol. I would suggest you to continue a couple of medicines that will make you feel better.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I completed the 7-day medicine course prescribed by you. Things were improving. But post yesterday's dinner there is persistent nausea and tightness in chest with me. In order to feel better, I tried vomiting but was not successful. It has been close to 17 hours now, though I do not have any pain this feeling is uncomfortable. Farts are there and a bit of sounds coming from the stomach. It has been one month now grappling with this issue. How long I need to suffer? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand that indigestion and stomach issues have not resolved. But you have to understand that GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is a problem which would not disappear overnight. The loose sphincters at the end of your food pipe would take time and a lot of lifestyle changes from your side to support your digestive system. I would advise you to continue with the lifestyle modifications in relation to the food and various other things that I have advised you earlier. Quit all nicotine related products if you are on any. I would prescribe you a medicine to take along with the previous two medicines that I have written. I would advise you to get an endoscopy and some other tests done after the COVID-19 situation is over. You do not need to panic until then.

Do indulge in light walks for 15-20 minutes after meals every day. Avoid lying down for the other hours when you are not sleeping. You can contact me anytime if you are not doing so well.

Patient's Query

Hi Doctor, medication is complete. changes: 1) burning sensation has shifted its place to stomach now , earlier it was in food pipe 2) hoarseness and bitter taste at back of the throat still there 3) less farts 4) frequency of stool has gone up to normal schedule (3-4 times a day) 5) stool formation is not same sometime it is loose with edges, sometime puffy with edges. am attaching stool pic which is more frequent. I have made lifestyle changes as suggested should I take curd with my meal of stop I am having home food . should I stop using onions and potato vegetables? have not got done endoscopy and stool test due to lockdown. regards vivek
Hello vivek. Welcome again to icliniq.com The symptoms that you are facing right now indicate that the motility of your gastrointestinal tract is improving. The symptoms of GERD due to acid reflux will take some more time to resolve. The stool consistency is nothing to worry about. It is good that you are making changes to your lifestyle which will help make you feel better . It might take atleast a month for you to notice any major difference. So continue living healthy and making those lifestyle changes. Curd is very good for your digestive system. So I would advice you to eat curd 1-2 cups per day. Continue the medicines that I have advised you previously. Give atleast 2 hours of gap between your dinner and sleep. Take the medicines for another 15 days. I am making a few changes in your prescription. Hope it helps. Let me know if you face any other difficulties.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
