Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old and have been severely suffering from a canker sore for the last three days. Kindly suggest a treatment.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. Canker sores can be very painful and cause a lot of distress. Mostly they are due to vitamin deficiency. So your food probably lacks the adequate amount of vitamins that you need. Try to have more green leafy vegetables like more saag (spinach), broccoli, etc. Try to have a boiled egg daily with the yolk since it is a powerhouse of vitamins. Also, take a vitamin supplement capsule Cobazinc (vitamin B complex with zinc), one capsule every night before sleep. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medicines with their consent. Sometimes canker sores are also caused due to excessive intake of acidic food such as spicy food or dentures. You can avoid spicy food for the time being and rely on a bland diet till the sore resolves. Also, I would suggest you use Listerine (Thymol, Eucalyptol, Methyl Salicylate, Menthol) mouthwash two to three times a day, preferably after meals. This will help in the fast healing of the sores. Make sure your diet is proper. Increase your vegetable intake, drink plenty of water, and take a capsule of Cobazinc daily.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
