Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old male. For the past few months, I have been unable to think or act. I do not know how to talk, and I become blank many times. My brain feels heavy all the time and I have lost every contact that I had. I just feel lazy, and my brain just seems to be irresponsive. I used to smoke weed but now I have stopped. I get suicidal thoughts also and I just do not know what I am doing. I forget things and I am unable to think. I am just living in the present. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

With passion, commitment, and experience, I hope I will be able to provide you with top-class medical opinion.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your situation. You may have cannabis use disorder and it can be managed non-pharmacologically. I suggest you follow the below guidelines to deal with it:

  1. You should exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes like at least going for a walk.
  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts. Just let it be.
  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.
  4. You must drink enough water.
  5. You should spend quality time with friends and family members daily.
  6. You should spend time doing creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  7. You should sleep for seven to eight hours daily.
  8. You must avoid tobacco usage, alcohol consumption, or any type of substance abuse. You may stay away from cannabis at any cost.

Live your life. Do not just spend it. Be bold and confident.

Suicide is not the solution to any problem, as every problem has one good solution. I suggest you start taking the capsule Fluoxetine 20 mg daily in the morning after breakfast after consulting with your physician.

I wish you good health.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

I suggest you do CBC (complete blood count), thyroid profile, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, and RBS (random blood sugar) tests.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
